Puppy Raising Tips

Changing the feeding schedule from three meals to two meals:

The concensus among raisers is to do it “cold turkey” in one day by splitting the three meals, food and water, into two. This can be done on a busy day while out on an outing or at home. If the puppy seems stressed at the normal noon feeding time, you can give the puppy a small amount of water. The puppy should be adjusted within a few days.

Food Reward

If using food reward, with prior approval from Deb, at the start of the day measure out 1/2 cup of the puppies food and put in the food reward bag. At the last feeding, substract this amount from the total food and add back any food left in the food reward bag from the day. Remember food for distractions is by approval only.
